The 2024-25 United Way of the Flint Hills Fundraising Campaign begins this week.
The United Way will host its annual campaign kick-off on Thursday evening at the Del 5ive Event Center at 802 Graham Street. This will be the first full campaign under the leadership of Executive Director Daphne Mertens who came on board with the organization midway through the 2023-24 campaign.
She says she is very excited for what’s to come over the next year and says one of the main focuses will be reaching younger demographics who may not be as knowledgeable about United Way’s work.
The kickoff event will begin at 5 pm and will include a social hour with hors d’oeuvres and beverages before campaign leadership discusses the campaign’s goals and objectives. Once again, Thursday’s kickoff doubles as the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours event. Residents wanting to attend the kickoff can register either at UWFH.org or by visiting Emporiakschamber.org.
For questions or more information visit the United Way’s website or social media channels. The United Way supports over 20 Community Partner agencies in eight counties: Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, Osage, Wabaunsee and Woodson.
Last year’s campaign managed to raise nearly $500,000.
