Overnight thunderstorms left hundreds of utility customers offline Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
At one time, more than 450 customers were affected by the outages in and around Emporia which included two that stretched from near downtown Emporia to Olpe. Another outage covered nearly all of Neosho Rapids affecting close to 170 customers.
The Neosho Rapids outage has been completely restored with some scattered outages still affecting customers in and around Emporia affecting just over 30 customers total.
Rain totals were varied but significantly lower than totals announced following the flooding rainfall from Tuesday.
At the KVOE studios, we received 0.90 inches while the Emporia Municipal Airport reported 0.39 inches.

Storm chances are not done just yet for the KVOE listening area with storms possible Thursday night through Sunday. All area counties are under a marginal severe weather risk for Thursday night, while areas south of a line from Elbing to Teterville to Hilltop in a marginal severe weather risk for Friday night.

11:25 pm Wednesday: WEATHER: Most of Olpe, Neosho Rapids listed as without power due to storms
Thunderstorms brought the risk of severe weather, as well as heavy rainfall and power outages to parts of the KVOE listening area.
Storms began affecting the area shortly before 9 pm, bringing several severe thunderstorm warnings to areas near Emporia but no confirmed reports.
Storms triggered several power outages affecting Evergy customers in Lyon County. Two outages stretched from near downtown Emporia south through Olpe to near the Lyon-Greenwood county line. Over 450 customers were affected by those outages as of 11:30 pm.
Another almost completely covered Neosho Rapids, meaning almost 170 customers were without power.
As of 11:30 pm, 4 Rivers and Flint Hills Rural Electric have not reported any outages.

The storms Wednesday night followed an abysmally hot day as air temperatures climbed to 98, while heat index readings briefly touched 110.
More storms are possible through the morning commute Thursday with a high temperature in the mid-90s. Showers and storms are possible Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night. All area counties are under a marginal severe weather risk for Thursday night, while areas south of a line from Elbing to Teterville to Hilltop in a marginal severe weather risk for Friday night.

Several hundred Evergy customers in near Emporia are without power late Wednesday night.
Evergy has two outages stretching from near downtown Emporia south through Olpe to near the Lyon-Greenwood county line. Over 450 customers are affected by those outages.
Another has almost completely covered Neosho Rapids, meaning almost 170 customers are without power.
As of 11:20 pm, 4 Rivers and Flint Hills Rural Electric have not reported any outages.
