Sentencing has been rendered after a Wichita man led a law enforcement pursuit before crashing in Chase County, leading to serious injuries for his passenger back in April.
Logan Benjamin-Lee Gentry, age 20, pleaded no contest to single counts of aggravated battery, felony flee and elude and felony interference with law enforcement. Other charges against Gentry, including interference, DUI, driving while suspended and reckless driving, were dismissed in June.
Judge Lee Fowler sentenced Gentry to 24 months probation. He also got an underlying prison term of 17 months with a year of postrelease supervision.
Gentry was fleeing law enforcement on US Highway 50 in western Chase County and crashed as he tried to go the wrong way onto Kansas Highway 177. He then led a short foot chase before he was captured. The crash left Wichita resident Tiffany Ortiz with serious injuries.
