An Emporia intersection heavily impacted by a water main break two weeks ago has more issues.
A water main break developed at 12th and West shortly before 3 pm.
The break follows a trio of failures on West 12th between West and Walnut. West had a break in and immediately south of the intersection — and the break just south of the intersection had just received an asphalt overlay this week. This break appears to be new but Public Works has not confirmed that information.
11:45 am Friday: Water main break reported on West 24th; Emporia Middle School not impacted
Emporia’s Underground Utilities Department is in the early stages of work on an unplanned water main repair.
Crews were dispatched to West 24th Avenue outside Emporia Middle School around 11:40 am. City Communications Manager Christine Torrens says homes near the failure site may be affected, but service will not be affected for Emporia Middle School and the street will remain open to thru traffic.
