USD 251 North Lyon County has managed to operate for over a decade now with very few changes to its budget year-to-year and that trend won’t change in 2025.
During the USD 251 board meeting Wednesday, the board approved the 2025 budget which has a total price tag of just over $5.1 million. The board also chose not to exceed the revenue-neutral rate for fiscal year 25.
He tells KVOE News there was only about a $35,000 difference between revenue-neutral and the maximum amount the district could have taken in.
Blair adds that since 2013-14, the district’s mill levy comes to 39.355 which is right on par with where it has been consistently since 2023-14. Blair says there was very little that gave him or the board pause during the budgeting process, noting the district has operated effectively and efficiently for well over a decade now.
That said, there was one matter that gave him a degree of concern.
In separate business Wednesday, board members selected the annual KASB conference delegate, received a facilities study report and updates on capital outlay and discussed financial, legislative and enrollment matters. USD 251 will begin the 2024-25 school year Wednesday.
Blair will join KVOE’s Primetime Newsmaker next Friday to discuss the start of classes.
