The 2024 Lyon County Fair is now in the books.
The fair wrapped up Saturday evening with the final night of the annual carnival.
This year’s fair saw several changes and additions including moving certain events up on the calendar such as the annual demolition derby which has traditionally closed out the fair. Also, a new barbecue competition took place this past Saturday with a strong turnout leading Fair Board Members to announce it will make a return next year.
Fair Board President Jodie Lee says it wasn’t without its challenges, however, she is very proud of how the board navigated all the changes they came with this year’s fair.
Fair Board member Jason Birk added turnout for almost all events were terrific over the last two weeks. He credited Mother Nature in part for bringing residents out.
The final day of the fair followed Friday’s truck and tractor pull which closed down the list of grandstand events which also included the Buck, Rumble and Roll, antique tractor pull and 4H Rodeo. As always, the fair featured the traditional slate of 4H activities which wrapped up with the premium sale last Monday.
