Trial is coming next month for a man accused of vehicular murder after a wreck outside Emporia last year.
Proceedings against Travis Duane Edwards are now moving towards trial beginning Sept. 3 after a motion hearing Friday in Lyon County District Court. Judge Laura Miser approved a state motion to endorse witness, as well as separate prosecution motions for in limine — disallowing improper statements at various points in trial — and for reciprocal discovery.
Edwards is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, as well as three counts of aggravated battery and one count of interfering with law enforcement. Charges follow a crash on US Highway 50 near Road C in April 2023 where two people were killed. Edwards and three other people were hurt in the wreck.
