Michelin North America is laying off employees at its Emporia facility.
Michelin hasn’t confirmed the number of layoffs and it hasn’t said when the layoffs will take place. A statement from the company’s public relations department says it is “adapting to evolving market conditions and making some production changes that will require fewer positions.” Michelin says it is offering voluntary separations and severance payments to help affected employees.
Michelin has confirmed just over 340 employees are involved in making agricultural rubber tracks and wheels at the facility in southeast Emporia.
Michelin absorbed Camso in 2018 and fully integrated into Michelin North America two years ago, following almost $7 million worth of site enhancements and other investments starting in 2020.
