An early-morning crash southwest of Emporia has led to an arrest for one of the drivers reported as involved.
The wreck happened shortly after 2 am at Kansas Turnpike mile marker 120 northbound, or seven miles southwest of Emporia. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Oscar Hernandez Lique of Kansas City, Kansas, was driving a pickup truck in the outside lane and traveling at low speeds with no lights on. A semi driven by 28-year-old Nicholas L Gonzalez of Iola then hit Lique’s pickup and sent if off the highway.
Lique was initially taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment of reportedly minor injuries, but he was then arrested and booked into the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, unspecified drug possession, failure to stop at an accident and interference with law enforcement. Word on formal charges is pending.
Neither Gonzalez nor a passenger, 51-year-old Nicholas A Gonzalez of Iola, were hurt.

A Kansas City, Kansas man suffered apparently minor injuries after his pickup was struck by a semi near Emporia early Friday morning.
