With extreme heat set to cover the entire KVOE listening area this weekend, the National Weather Service has issued heat advisories which also cover the entire area through Sunday evening.
An advisory goes from 1 pm to 8 pm for Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties. Chase and Greenwood counties are in an advisory from noon to 8 pm.
The advisories reflect air temperatures near 100 degrees with heat index values up to 109. With that in mind, residents are reminded to take precautions starting with drinking lots of water and wearing light and loose-fitting clothes.
Residents should also try and move any strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours if possible.
