USD 251 Superintendent Bob Blair is confident his district can continue a range of academic achievements noted for his students the past several years.
Blair joined KVOE’s Morning Show on Friday to discuss the start of classes, which comes after an active spring and summer for the district. Much of the work done by the district’s board had to do with setting policies on open enrollment after action by state lawmakers last year, and that work appears to have paid off with over 10 students transferring in. Blair says overall enrollment should be level or slightly higher than last year.
Separately, the board has been continuing a longstanding discussion about facilities — as in the number of schools and their location or locations. Blair says the district’s Strategic Planning Committee has been meeting for over a year and continues its fact-finding work. The district’s planning partner, DCS Services, will lead a public meeting at 7 pm Wednesday at the North Lyon County gym to discuss the physical condition of the school buildings.
KVOE’s Morning Show interviews with local school administrators will continue Monday with Sacred Heart Principal Curtis Simons at 8:20 am Monday, USD 252 Southern Lyon County Superintendent Ryan Muhlig at 7:20 am Tuesday and Emporia Christian School Principal Sally Kaiser at 8:20 am Tuesday.
