Former Lyon County Commissioner Wayne “Jackie” Leffler has passed away.
Leffler passed Sunday at Emporia’s Presbyterian Manor at the age of 93. A four-term commissioner in Lyon County, Leffler, a native of Bushong, was also known for his involvement with the Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) which he joined in 1949 and was awarded a 70-year pin for.
Leffler also served on the USD 251 Board of Education, Flint Hills Regional Council, the Newman Regional Health Hospital Board, Lyon County Zoning Board and many others.
Cremation is planned with a private graveside service to be held at Fruitland Cemetery west of Americus. Visitation will take place from 4 pm to 5 pm Saturday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
