The Emporia High football team looks to take a step forward this season after having the program’s first winless season since 2001.
Kaden Glinsmann returns for his second year guiding the Spartans. Emporia High will be ‘super young’ according to Glinsmann but have some returners that saw playing time a season ago.
Emporia High returns senior Koby Le, a three-year starter on the offensive and defensive lines. Also returning include seniors Javen Arndt, Madden Seidl, Luke Pitman, Landon Wohletz, RJ Tabares and Braxton Malone. Other returners include junior Brody Telfer, Jose Vargas, Rylan Crowell and sophomores Micah Gray and Johnny Couch. Gray will shift into the starting quarterback role after three starts at the end of last season.
The Spartans have three new opponents on the schedule for the 2024 season, including home games with Wichita West and Coffeyville and a road game at Spring Hill. For the third consecutive season, Emporia High will open with Pittsburg. The Centennial League opener for the Spartans is Sept. 27 vs. Topeka High.
KVOE is the ‘Voice of The Spartans’ with multiple games shifted to Mix 104.9 due to Royals baseball in September with potential changes in October if necessary.
