Lyon County Extension has a 4-H agent.
Rhett Newby officially began his duties at Extension last week. He will be responsible for developing and delivering educational programs for schoolkids, including school enrichment, program outreach, community club support, out-of-school programs and volunteer management.
Newby comes to Extension after serving as a food safety, quality and regulatory team lead for Cargill’s Emporia facility. He also spent time as Pratt County’s agriculture, natural resources and 4-H agent before joining Cargill.
Newby fills the spot vacated by longtime agent Corinne Patterson, who took a full-time ranching position in Chase County in late 2023 after over a dozen years as Lyon County’s 4-H agent.
