There was a celebratory atmosphere at the Little Lyons Childcare on Tuesday.
Activities don’t officially start for another week, but there was a ribbon-cutting and open house for interested parents and community members alike. The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, and specifically Ignite Emporia, have been a driving force in bringing the childcare to the community. Ignite Emporia Director Michelle Margeson says the activities Tuesday and the start of operations next week reflects a lengthy behind-the-scenes period.
Little Lyons Director Serena Jeffery says kids will have a range of experiences.
Little Lyons will start with three classrooms, one each for infants, toddlers and as renovations continue for much of the former Maynard Early Childhood Center building. Once all the renovations are complete, possibly within two years, Little Lyons will reach its goal of being a 24-7 childcare facility.
Activities officially begin Sept. 3. For more information, call 620-208-5966 or find Little Lyons Childcare Inc on Facebook.
