A preliminary hearing is planned next month for an Overland Park man accused of mistreating a dependent adult or elder person.
Juan Diego Romero-Hernandez was arrested in late July and charged with one count of mistreatment to the tune of $1,500 to $25,000. He was also charged with one count of theft with the same financial range. The prelim is Sept. 12.
Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch says the investigation started developing shortly before Christmas as a woman said she was called by a man claiming to be a bondsman and needing money to get her relative out of jail. The suspect then received cash from the victim shortly afterward.
Hernandez was arrested by Linn County authorities, who brought him to Lyon County.
