Emporia Police officers have given more details about Tuesday’s injury crash involving a car and bicycle.
Police Capt. Ray Mattas says the incident in the 100 block of West 12th involved a car driven by 20-year-old Angela Marin and a battery-powered bike driven by 36-year-old Levi Oakes. Mattas says Marin was facing west but was stopped and was waiting to make a left turn into the Kwik Shop parking lot. Oakes was also westbound but began passing Marin on the left side as the car started a left turn. Marin did not see Oakes and hit the bike.
Oakes was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment. Emporia Fire/EMS said the injuries were apparently not life-threatening. Marin was not hurt.
Hometowns for Marin and Oakes were not listed.
