Roughly half of Emporia’s annual Street Rehab work zones will see major work beginning next week.
Milling and asphalt overlay is set to begin Sept. 5 or shortly afterward on the following streets:
• 2nd Avenue (State Street to Rural Street)
• Rural Street (2nd Avenue to dead end)
• Peyton Street (6th Avenue to 12th Avenue)
• 10th Avenue (Peyton Street to Topeka Street)
• Prairie Street at Tyson Plant and Tyson Access Roads
• Lawrence Street (6th Avenue to 12th Avenue)
• Oak Street (9th Avenue to 11th Avenue)
• Arundel Street (9th Avenue to dead end)
• Chestnut Street (9th Avenue to 12th Avenue)
• 10th Avenue (Mechanic Street to Market Street)
• 10th Avenue (Market Street to Union Street)
• 11th Avenue (Mechanic Street to Market Street)
• 15th Avenue (East of Rural Street)
Resurfacing has already happened on the other streets involved this summer:

• Lincoln Street (4th Avenue to 6th Avenue)
• Oaks Drive (Graphic Arts Road to 302’ West)
• 11th Avenue (Rural Street to West Street)
• Washington Street (6th Avenue to 7th Avenue)
• Washington Street (15th Avenue to Sherwood Way)
• Mayfair Street (Sherwood Way to 18th Avenue)
• Sherwood Way (Washington Park to 18th Avenue)
• Chestnut Street (Dead End to 5th Avenue)
• Lincoln Street (7th Avenue to 9th Avenue)
• Wheeler Street (15th Avenue to 18th Avenue)
• Whittier Street (Riley Avenue to 300’ south of lift station)
• Walnut Street (6th Avenue to 9th Avenue)
• C of E Drive (12th Avenue to Keyon Square Apartments)
Milling and overlay work follows other parts of the overall project, including work on curb and gutter, sidewalks and handicapped-accessible ramps.
