An Emporia woman was hurt in a crash on the Kansas Turnpike near the Admire exit Thursday evening.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 7:45 pm near mile marker 143 southbound, four miles southwest of the Admire exit and 16 miles northeast of the Emporia gate. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 61-year-old Rhonda Brooks was driving a pickup and hit a construction zone cone. The truck then rode the center barrier wall for an unlisted distance before stopping.
Brooks was taken to Newman Regional Health with apparently minor injuries. She was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
