Most of the KVOE listening area is entering the Labor Day weekend in mild drought.
Officiallu, abnormally dry conditions cover the north and south portions of Lyon County, as well as the southern halves of Chase and Coffey counties. Most of Greenwood, Morris and Osage counties are abnormally dry, along with all of Wabaunsee County.
Thursday’s update expands the abnormally dry area from the Aug. 22 report, which had the northeast quarter of the KVOE listening area as drought-free.
Rainfall from Friday morning, largely 0.50-1 inch, will be reflected in the US Drought Monitor’s Sept. 5 update.
