Resurfacing work is ahead soon for a state highway in southern Osage County.
Starting Tuesday, the Kansas Department of Transportation will mill and overlay Kansas Highway 31 from just west of US Highway 75 east to Melvern before going south to Interstate 35.
Construction will reduce traffic to one line, with drivers directed through the work zone by a pilot car and flaggers. There will also be a 12-foot lane width restriction. Drivers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes throughout the project, which could we be done by mid-October.
Work will take place weekdays and, occasionally, Saturdays during daylight hours.
Bettis Asphalt & Construction of Topeka won the contract with a $2 million bid.
