Emporia State quarterback Gunnar Gundy was named the MIAA’s Offensive Player of the Week for Week 0 on Tuesday. Gundy led the Hornets to a 30-14 win over Washburn last Thursday as ESU started the season 1-0. Gundy was 27 of 41 throwing for 292 yards and three touchdowns in the game with all three passing scores tallying as part of a 21-0 run for ESU in the second half. Gundy also carried 11 times for 99 yards on the ground. Emporia State returns to action Saturday when they face Angelo State. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. for Education Day at Welch Stadium. Pregame coverage begins at 12:00 p.m. on Mix 104.9.
