Emporia State leadership is hoping for a large turnout at Welch Stadium this weekend for the ESU home football game against Angelo State.
That’s because ESU recently distributed over 4,000 vouchers for Saturday’s game across Lyon County Schools. The vouchers will provide free or reduced admission to Saturday’s game to students and families of Lyon County schools both private and public.
According to ESU Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations Darian Westerfield, the vouchers were distributed in recognition of Education Day at Emporia State. He tells KVOE the whole of ESU is extremely excited for Saturday for several reasons, specifically the focus on both family and education.
The voucher will be good for one free student admission to the game when presented at the Welch Stadium box office. Parents will be able to scan the QR code on the voucher to receive $7 off the regular price of general admission tickets.
Saturday’s game will kick off at 1:05 pm and is the MIAA game of the week which will be televised in the Kansas City area. The game will also be broadcast on the Hornet Sports Network including the flagship station Mix 104.9.
Local activities will begin at 10 am with the Hornet Walk on the ESU campus followed by the Live at the Hive Tailgate Party, hosted by KVOE’s Tagan Trahoon, at 10:30 am.
The gates to the stadium will open at noon. For more information visit esuhornets.com.
