SOS has obtained three major grants as announced this week by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly.
SOS is getting almost $808,000 in state grants through the Domestic Violence and Sexual Grant Awards line item. This grant allows for providing shelter, safety planning and advocacy efforts, as well as services for people using SafeLine Kansas — either by texting “SAFE” to 847411 or by calling 888-363-2287.
The SOS Child Advocacy Center receives over $90,000 through a separate grant. Funding goes for hiring and training, advocacy and coordination of multi-disciplinary case review teams.
CASA of the Flint Hills gets over $55,000 as part of a third grant. Money is used to train volunteers who work with judges, attorneys and child welfare representatives to help abused and neglected children.
In total, over $28 million is getting distributed across Kansas for these efforts.
