The circus is coming to Chase County this week.
The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus will be hosting two shows on Thursday in Cottonwood Falls in support of the Chase County Old School Development District. Lee Ane Coester of the Chase County Old School Development District, a guest of KVOE’s Morning Show Tuesday, says Culpepper and Merriweather came highly recommended.
The first of two main shows will begin at 5 pm with the second set for 7:30 pm. Advance tickets are on sale at CMCircus.com and cost $8 for children 3-12 and seniors over 65 while adult tickets cost $13.
Tickets are also available at the door for $9 and $16. A portion of proceeds will go to benefit renovations at the 1930 school building which is being converted into apartment units and a community center, a project which has been in development for well over a decade now and is nearing the finish line.
According to Coester, current plans are to have tenants move into the new apartment units in the building by the first of next year. Coester says they are very excited to be nearing this point, but notes that with the good news comes some bad.
During her interview Tuesday, Coester stated they are currently seeking information on several vandalism incidents at the historic building.
Those who have any information on these incidents are asked to contact the Chase County Sheriff’s Office by calling 620-273-6313. You can also submit information to the Chase County Old School Development District by messaging them on Facebook.
