Two area residents were hurt in a crash in north Osage County on Tuesday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash at US Highway 75 and Topeka Avenue happened shortly before 2:30 pm. Troopers say a pickup driven by 87-year-old Charles Powers of Carbondale was northbound on US-75 and turned westbound in front of an SUV driven by 29-year-old Alec Smith of Burlington. Smith tried unsuccessfully to avoid Powers’ truck. Instead, Powers hit Smith’s vehicle on the driver’s side door and caused it to roll.
Powers reportedly did not see Smith’s SUV.
Powers was taken to Stormont Vail Health in Topeka, while Smith was taken to Coffey County Hospital in Burlington. Both had suspected minor injuries. Both had suspected minor injuries.
