The Emporia State volleyball team opened the Tiger Classic with a 3-2 win over former MIAA rival Truman State beating the Bulldogs 25-16, 18-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-8 victory Friday afternoon at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. ESU started strong defensively forcing 11 TSU errors in the opening set, but Truman State hit .304 in the second set to tie the match. ESU hit a blistering .325 in the third but Truman State held ESU to just .091 in the fourth set. The Lady Hornets held Truman State to just three kills in the fifth to hang on for the win. Weronika Wrzesinska led ESU with 15 kills while Brailey Bogle led the way with 44 assists and 14 digs. ESU (4-1) returns to action Saturday morning to face Colorado-Colorado Springs.
