A plea agreement has been reached in the case of a Florida man accused of drug distribution in Chase County, while a related case against his father has been dismissed.
Seth Kindt, age 47 of Inglis, Florida, pleaded no contest to possessing drug paraphernalia as part of a hearing Monday. All other counts, including marijuana distribution, criminal use of weapons and speeding, were dropped as part of the agreement. Sentencing will be Nov. 4.
Proceedings against Kindt’s father, 75-year-old Duff Kindt of Stout, Ohio, were dismissed with prejudice this week — meaning prosecutors cannot refile.
Both men were arrested Feb. 22 after a traffic stop near Strong City. Documents posted online to the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal indicate the Kindts had 10.5 pounds of marijuana in their possession at the time of their arrests, as well as unspecified grow operation items and two firearms. Both were initially charged afterward with possessing marijuana with intent to distribute and possessing paraphernalia with intent to manufacture. Seth Kindt was also charged with criminal use of weapons by a person addicted to a controlled substance.
