Four other Emporia High teams were in action on Saturday.
The Emporia High girls tennis team finished in a tie for fourth in its home invitational. Kali Keough finished fourth in singles, while the doubles team of Peyton Chanley and Kinsley Heins finished fourth. Katie Smart finished 13th in singles and the doubles team of Alexa Tovar and Chelsea Mendez finished 13th. Emporia High heads to Andover Central on Tuesday.
The Emporia High volleyball team went 2-2 at the Valley Center Tournament. Emporia High fell to Campus, 25-19, 26-24, Andover, 25-21, 21-25, 22-25. Emporia High defeated Salina Central, 25-16, 13-25, 25-18 and Wichita East 25-17, 25-12. Emporia High (8-6) will head to Tonganoxie for a triangular on Tuesday.
The Emporia High boys soccer team avenged an early season loss to St. Mary’s Academy by defeating the Crusaders, 4-0, in the third place match of the Salina South Invitational. Brayden Sailer led Emporia High with a hat trick while Benji Gamez had the other goal. Emilio Aleman and Kevin Magana were named to the All-Tournament team. Emporia High (2-3) will host Hayden on Tuesday.
The Emporia High gymnastics team finished eighth at Lawrence. Addy Malone finished 22nd in the All-Around with a score of 28.25. Emporia High will head to Olathe for a meet on Tuesday.
