CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness continues its work as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. That work now includes absorbing an established treatment facility in Emporia.
CrossWinds has announced plans to merge with Corner House by New Year’s Day. CrossWinds CEO Amanda Cunningham says this process will mean a “folding in” of Corner House’s substance use treatment plan, as well as its facility at 418 Market, staff and management, including Executive Director Rod Shepherd. Cunningham says conversations have been underway for a couple years, but intensified over the past few weeks as federal CCBHC guidelines on substance abuse disorder services (SUDs) were different than what CrossWinds administrators had thought as they started the process.
Corner House was founded in 1975. It offers services like alcohol and drug assessments and evaluations, different levels of outpatient treatments for adults and teenagers and employee assistance programs. These programs will become part of the CrossWinds lineup. Staff, meanwhile, will have chances to take on similar roles in CrossWinds and the Market Street facility will also continue hosting services. Cunningham says this will also help expand opportunities for medication-assisted treatments and augment CrossWinds’ current pharmacy partnership with Genoa.
