A busy week at the Lee Beran Recreation Center got underway Monday night.
Emporia Recreation Commissioners convened for their regular monthly meeting where, among other topics, the ERC’s annual audit report was a topic of conversation. The rec center once again received a clean audit report.
ERC Assistant Director of Business Jennifer Kraus says while the ERC has traditionally received a clean report, this year’s may be a bit more important given the various projects and plans currently in development, specifically the proposed development of a new recreation facility within Emporia. While she does not believe it would have any significant impact on said plans one way or another, Kraus does believe having a clean audit report is a benefit from a transparency standpoint.
In separate business Monday, commissioners received the latest update from the Rec Center Steering Committee and leadership team reports. Monday’s meeting is just the start of a busy week for the ERC and Steering Committee which has its community engagement meeting on the proposed new rec facility coming Tuesday evening.
The meeting will include several stations that detail basic information about the project, site locations, amenities and an opportunity to look at other rec facilities from across the country. The input meeting will take place from 5 pm to 7:30 pm.
