Following the layoffs of up to 80 Michelin employees locally last month, nearly 70 of whom accepted severance packages, Southeast KANSASWORKS is hosting two events for affected workers.
First is a Laid-Off Worker Information session from 11 am to 1 pm Thursday at the Flint Hills Technical College main campus. The meeting will have information on how to file for unemployment benefits while also letting workers explore training opportunities and look at a range of support services.
KANSASWORKS has also announced an Emporia Community Job Fair from 1-4 pm Sept. 26, also at the FHTC main campus. This event will involve employers looking to hire skilled workers, so affected employees can learn about positions and meet with recruiters as they explore different career options.
Both events will be at the Trusler Conference Center.
