Separate injury crashes developed on US Highway 56 on Wednesday, one in Lyon County and another in Morris County.
The Lyon County wreck happened around 9:40 am near Road P-5 outside Admire Cemetery and involved a semi. Kansas Highway Patrol troopers say 43-year-old Jesse James Hogue of Lawson, Missouri, was westbound when the trailer dropped off the highway. Hogue tried unsuccessfully to regain control. The trailer continued off the highway, went over a culvert and separated from the tractor. The trailer overturned once, dumping out stone gravel across the highway.
Hogue was taken to Newman Regional Health for suspected minor injuries.
The second wreck happened just west of the Lyon-Morris county line and involved an unspecified vehicle and a motorcycle. Crash details are pending through the Morris County Sheriff’s Office as of late Wednesday afternoon. The motorcyclist was airlifted to an unspecified hospital. The driver of the vehicle declined hospital treatment.
