Institutions of higher learning across Kansas will have more money for operations and projects in fiscal 2026 if the Kansas Legislature approves the Board of Regents’ unified appropriations request.
The total amount is over $273 million, up $23 million or 1.7 percent from fiscal 2025 now underway. The Regents concentrated on cybersecurity improvements, student affordability and using research and development projects to enhance the state economy.
Emporia State University is not singled out for a specific project, but it is among three universities — Fort Hays State and Pittsburg State the other two — set to split $21 million in regional growth and development funding, again if lawmakers approve the request in full.
Flint Hills Technical College was also not mentioned, but it could well split over $20 million in operating grants with the state’s other technical colleges.
