The Emporia State volleyball team suffered their first loss since the season-opener in a 3-1 defeat to Illinois-Springfield Thursday at the PSU Regional Challenge at John Lance Arena in Pittsburg, Kan. falling 25-23, 17-25, 28-26, 25-16. ESU outhit the Prairie Stars .240 to .238 in the match but committed eight more errors and were out-aced nine to five. After losing a tight third set in extra points, the Lady Hornet offense withered to a match-low .067 in the fourth. Rayishon Jackman led the way with 25 kills for ESU hitting .297 in the match nabbing 28 digs while freshman Mia Frisbie had five blocks. The Lady Hornets (6-2) return to action this morning for an 11:30 a.m. match against Henderson State.
