The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is gearing up for a new community event this weekend.
Victory on the Prairie will take place from 10 am to 4 pm. The event is focused on how rural Kansans helped the World War II efforts.
Presentations will include Herington Museum historian Mark Will, Ohio University Eminent Research Professor Emeritus Alfred Eckes and Kansas State Historical Society representative Trae Johnson.
Attendees can also see a vintage tractor display from the Flint Hills Antique Power Association, watch demonstrations of historic canning procedures and learn more about rationing of certain items like sugar, gas and rubber.
