One could say Friday night was wild at the David Traylor Zoo.
The reason? Zoo Brew: A Night in the Wild, which had people enjoying the zoo as well as a catered meal from 627 Event Space, drink samples from Radius Brewing, Trolley House Distillery and Turquoise Tavern and music from Brickhorse.
And Zoo Director Brenda Young says it was a successful event, with over 200 people in attendance.
Young says community events are important so residents can learn more about the zoo and its mission of education and conservation.
Ideas revolve around bison, specifically through the Saving Animals From Extinction program already supported by the zoo, and the long-planned North American river otter exhibit as part of the Oasis capital campaign.
Young credits longtime director and now Assistant Director Lisa Keith, who is retiring at the end of the year, and the Friends of the Zoo board for its work to put together Zoo Brew. She’s also looking forward to the zoo’s upcoming fall events, including Boo in the Zoo and Happy Holidaze.
