Recovery in the Park this upcoming weekend is drawing attention to positive life changes for those locally addicted to drugs and alcohol. It’s also highlighting a huge change for the organizing agency.
Recovery in the Park is from 11 am to 4 pm Saturday at the Peter Pan Park grape arbor, featuring free picnic food, success stories from those in recovery and information about Corner House services. Here’s longtime administrator and board member Raymond Rogers:
This overlaps longstanding conversations between — and recent merger announcement involving — Corner House and CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness. Corner House was founded in 1975, offering services like alcohol and drug assessments and evaluations, different levels of outpatient treatments for adults and teenagers and employee assistance programs. Rogers says this will solidify addiction treatments and services for years to come.
CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness CEO Amanda Cunningham says Corner House’s current programs will become part of the CrossWinds lineup.
Corner House staff, meanwhile, will have chances to take on similar roles in CrossWinds and the Market Street facility will also continue hosting services. Cunningham says this will also help expand opportunities for medication-assisted treatments and augment CrossWinds’ current pharmacy partnership with Genoa.
