One person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle wreck in central Emporia on Wednesday evening.
Emporia Fire/EMS and Emporia Police responded to Sixth and Rural shortly after 6:40 pm. Police Capt. Ray Mattas says a minivan driven by 19-year-old Alexander Ballenger, hometown not listed, was westbound on Sixth. It ran a red light and hit a southbound minivan driven by 70-year-old Ronald Kloppenberg, hometown not listed.
Emporia Fire Capt. Wade Schmidt says a passenger in the westbound minivan was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and possible treatment. A condition report is pending.
