What’s ahead for the eighth annual Vamos a Pescar on Saturday?
Plenty.
Try traditional fishing activities, tours of the host site — the Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center — as well as a nature trail, fish tacos and more — all courtesy of partnerships fostered over time through Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow, USD 253 Migrant Education, What’s In Outdoors, Emporia State University, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and other collaborators.
Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow spokesperson Sally Sanchez says she could see the event had significant growth potential when it started.
Activities go from 9 am to 1 pm at PAROC.
Kayaking was planned but will not take place after the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reissued an algae warning for King Lake. All other planned activities are set to move forward.
