The Emporia State women’s soccer team couldn’t climb out of a 2-0 halftime deficit in a 3-1 loss to Central Oklahoma Sunday at the ESU Pitch. The Bronchos got started early with two tallies in the first 11 minutes. Less than four minutes into the second half, Avery Zimmerman got the Lady Hornets on the board with her first goal of the season, but the Bronchos ended any hopes of an ESU comeback with a third tally with less than five minutes to go. ESU managed two more shots than the ‘Chos, but UCO had four more shots on goal. ESU had six more corner kicks than the Bronchos but couldn’t take advantage. ESU (3-3-1, 1-1 MIAA) makes their first conference road trip next Sunday at Fort Hays State.
