Political season is heating up, and the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and League of Women Voters Emporia chapter have scheduled a pair of candidate forums.
The first forum is Tuesday and will involve the Lyon County Commission candidates, including Democrat Ronald McCoy and Republican incumbent Doug Peck for the Second District and Republican Chris Bartel and Democrat Bill Nienstedt for the Third District.
Oct. 7 involves the candidates for Kansas Statehouse. Candidates for the Senate 17th District are Republican Mike Argabright and Democrat Lillian Lingenfelter. Candidates for the House 60th District are Democrat Mic McGuire and Republican incumbent Mark Schreiber. Candidates for the House 13th District are Democrat Edgar Chrisman and Republican incumbent Duane Droge. The candidate for the House 76th District is Republican Brad Barrett.
Both forums will be at the Flint Hills Technical College Metcalf Building at 3301 West 18th beginning at 6 pm.
KVOE has its Candidate Forums scheduled for the upcoming general election. McGuire and Schreiber appear Oct. 10, followed by McCoy and Peck on Oct. 15, Argabright and Lingenfelter on Oct. 17 and Bartel and Nienstedt on Oct. 22. All on-air programs begin at 10:06 am and will feature questions from KVOE News and KVOE listeners.
The general election is Nov. 5.
