September was a good month for the state’s revenues.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says total tax collections for the month were $1.02 billion, up $8 million or almost one percent over estimates and up over three percent from September 2023.
Individual income tax collections were well ahead of both estimates and a year ago, with almost $470 million generated — up 17 percent over estimates and nearly 20 percent from September 2023. Combined retail sales and compensating use tax receipts also did reasonably well at over $296 million, above estimates by 1.5 percent but short of last year by almost three percent.
Gains were not across the board. Corporate income tax collections, over $228 million, missed estimates by over 21 percent and the September 2023 number by almost 13 percent.
