Manhattan’s rushing attack was too much for the Emporia High football team at Bishop Stadium in Manhattan on Friday.
On the Indians’ Homecoming, Manhattan recorded eight rushing touchdowns and 410 yards of total offense in a 59-0 victory over Emporia High.
Manhattan led 16-0 after one and 38-0 at halftime. The Indians extended their lead to 45-0 which triggered a running clock the final 19 plus minutes of the contest.
Emporia High recorded 156 yards of total offense but could not get on the scoreboard. Micah Gray finished 11 of 16 for 71 yards with his top receiver being Owen Ruge hauling in three receptions for 26 yards. Rylan Crowell had 18 carries for 56 yards.
Emporia High (0-5, 0-2 Centennial) continues its three-game road swing at Washburn Rural next Friday at Bowen-Glaze Stadium in Topeka. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. with the RV-Doc Pregame Show beginning at 6:30 p.m. on KVOE.
