A fire destroyed a car moving through the Kansas Turnpike Emporia tollgate Friday afternoon.
Emporia Fire responded around 3 pm, and Battalion Chief Ryan Conley tells KVOE News a small car was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived. Firefighters got the fire out, but not before it destroyed the car.
Conley says nobody was hurt. The cause is undetermined.
The car was northbound and just past the recently-demolished canopy when the fire made the driver stop.
