Though the number of confirmed flu cases has been virtually non-existent locally in recent weeks, the annual CareArc drive-thru flu shot clinic was plenty busy Friday.
As always, the clinic provided individuals and families a quick and convenient opportunity to get their vaccines all from the comfort of their own vehicles. Registered Nurse McKayala Ortiz of CareArc says often wait times within doctors’ offices can be a hindrance to those looking to get their vaccine.
She says the drive-thru clinic is a great resource to help overcome time constraints and ensure more individuals are protected from the flu.
Ortiz adds that so far this year they have not seen a high number of flu cases pass through their doors for this time of year.
There were a few changes to this year’s vaccine clinic starting with the vaccine itself.
Also new this year was the addition of Flint Hills Technical College nursing students who assisted with administering the vaccines to drivers.
For those unable to attend Friday’s clinic, vaccines are available at CareArc from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 8 am to 5:30 pm Tuesday and Thursday.
