An Emporia woman was taken to Newman following a single-vehicle accident north of town Saturday evening.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer was traveling northbound at Kansas Highway 99 milepost 124, just over 18 miles north of Emporia, just before 5:30 pm. The passenger tires of the vehicle reportedly went off the roadway and then overcorrected going off the road and striking a barbed wire fence.
The driver, 34-year-old Jake Ryan Miller of Emporia and five passengers suffered no apparent injuries. One passenger, however, 31-year-old Katelynn Marie Miller was taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected minor injuries.
