Work is progressing on Emporia’s CCLIP street resurfacing project.
The south phase, Commercial Street between the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks and Kansas Avenue, is paved — although the approach areas to connecting streets have not been paved and striping is still ahead.
The north phase got started Monday with milling or pavement removal affecting southbound traffic on Merchant between The Villas and West 12th. Work has not yet started on 12th between Commercial and Merchant as of early Tuesday.
The CCLIP project involves a cost-share between the city and Kansas Department of Transportation. It involves segments of the highways moving through the Emporia city limits, US Highway 50 and Kansas Highway 99. Work could last through much of November.
