One person was killed after being hit by a train northeast of Emporia well before sunrise Tuesday.
Lyon County deputies and Emporia Fire/EMS initially responded to Roads 200 and R, about five miles east-northeast of Emporia, around 3:50 am after a report of a train striking a vehicle. Further investigation confirmed the victim was walking along the track somewhere between Roads 190-200.
The victim’s name has not been released. Other incident details are currently pending.

Emporia Fire and Lyon County deputies have responded to a reported injury crash early Tuesday.
Authorities and emergency responders were dispatched to Roads 200 and R shortly before 4 am. Details are currently pending, but early reports have a train striking a vehicle.
