Upcoming hearing dates have been added to an appeal in a Lyon County kidnapping case from over five years ago.
William D Anderson is appealing his conviction in a 2018 aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and aggravated battery case. He was sentenced to over 25 years in prison.
Numerous claims by current defense attorney Brian Williams about Anderson’s previous attorney, Paul Dean, were summarily dismissed earlier this year, including Dean did not request DNA testing, did not subpoena and/or question certain witnesses, did not exclude certain evidence, did not attack a conviction for drug possession and failed to file a motion for a new trial. Williams’ claim district court lacked jurisdiction was also summarily dismissed, as were assertions of prosecutorial misconduct and the denial of Anderson to testify in his own defense.
Williams’ assertion Dean didn’t contact Anderson and didn’t review the case before trial is moving forward with a hearing coming later. Hearings are scheduled for Nov. 6 and Jan. 10.
Currently, Williams’ earliest release date is July 2040.
